Tree roots by Sam Tench

Captured at the You Yangs Regional Park, the humble roots of an old tree portrays my mind when filled with raging crazy eating disorder (ED) thoughts. This picture helps me to view my illness thoughts in a changed light. A massive transformation had begun simply by finding something outside of myself that I loved.

I was strongly drawn to this tree and to take this particular shot of its roots, despite the ED side of my mind telling me I was crazy. To me, the roots demonstrate life, nourishment and the beauty it withholds. Being black and white serves to enhance its natural details.
